Ventura Film Festival Offering International Film to The Central Coast

The Ventura Film Festival serves as an unrestricted genre international film festival that generates attention toward conservation issues such as woodland and marine conservation and recovery, through a yearly film festival and related events. The event harnesses the influence of film to encourage participation and foster important conversations about these pressing environmental challenges.

The Ventura Film Festival was founded in 2004 and has displayed hundreds of movies, generally exceeding 200 films per summer season, and has generated excitement within the global cinema community. Since its founding, the festival has evolved into a major cultural celebration that assembles filmmakers, environmental advocates, and audiences from across the globe.

Notable moments have included presenting celebrated filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the original world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend and surf legend Ian Cairns, 4 time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA fighter Fabio Leopoldo, and the 50th Anniversary tribute to West Side Story, which included hosting the entire Academy here Award winning cast of West Side Story, featuring Academy Award honoree/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris as well as Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominated Russ Tamblyn. The founder and executive director of the Ventura Film Festival was privileged to participate, alongside numerous Hollywood elite, in the half-century commemoration of West Side Story and Hollywood's footprint/handprint ceremony for Academy Award winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, together with Golden Globe recipient Russ Tamblyn at the iconic Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This celebration also functioned as the official BluRay launch by Fox and MGM of the timeless West Side Story, which is commonly viewed by critics and fans as the finest musical of all time. This distinguished honor and involvement demonstrates the festival's important standing and valued role within the film industry.
